Checks

Checks

Checks normally use a d20. The result equals the die result plus the relevant Attribute Modifier. If the result equals or exceeds the Difficulty Class, the check succeeds; otherwise, it fails. A natural 1 is a critical failure and fails regardless of modifiers. A natural 20 is a critical success and succeeds regardless of modifiers.

The Difficulty Class reflects how hard the task is: DC 2 is trivial, DC 5 very easy, DC 10 easy, DC 15 moderate, DC 20 hard, DC 25 very hard, and DC 30 nearly impossible.
